A chaotic office sim where slacking off is the real full-time job.

Hardly Workin’ is a comedic office simulator developed by Sleepy Sloth Studios, a team of seven students, working together like a real studio from concept to showcase. Built in Unity over two semesters, the game was developed for a game production course and later showcased at the Level Up Student Showcase in Toronto.

You play as Buddy Inepta, the world’s most ambitious slacker, trying to make it through the workday without burning out or getting fired. The gameplay revolves around completing “silly tasks” like spiking your coffee, fishing office supplies out of your coworkers' cubicles, and throwing tacks; all while dodging the boss, Karen, who’s constantly patrolling the office floor.

I worked primarily as a programmer, handling everything related to the silly tasks. From the coffee-pouring mechanics to fishing supplies and everything in between, I helped bring the ridiculous side of office life to life. I also contributed shader work using Unity’s Shader Graph and jumped into small Unity adjustments where needed. Out of all the tasks I worked on, I’m especially proud of the coffee task, a deceptively simple mechanic that turned out to be one of the game's best moments.

The project is currently in beta on Itch.io, with plans for a full Steam release if the team’s schedules allow. Whether it's chucking paper balls, brewing questionable coffee, or just trying to survive another day at the office, Hardly Workin’ is all about embracing the absurdity of corporate life.
