Galactic Glide
Galactic Glide is a retro-inspired, top-down space shooter I developed solo as part of a course assignment. While we were provided some base scripts, I created all the artwork and contributed additional code, including systems for enemy waves, powerups, and a multi-phase boss fight to wrap up the experience.
The gameplay is survival-based with an arcade-style score system, pushing players to stay alive and rack up points while dodging bullets and grabbing upgrades. Defeating the boss ends the game, but the game gets harder the closer you get to the boss.
This was my first time building a full sprite sheet from scratch, and while I'm not primarily an artist, I had a great time creating everything from the ships to the effects. It’s not a huge game; it has a simple start screen and basic game loop, but I learned a lot through making it.
