A Grim Adventure
Project type
2D Platformer
Date
April, 2023
Role
Level Designer, Enemy Programmer
Tools Used
Godot, TortoiseSVN
A spooky little platformer made in Godot as part of a semester-long group project. The assignment? Build a full 2D platformer from scratch; no tutorials, no templates, just five students figuring it out as we went.
I focused on level design, shaping the pacing, platforming flow, and how each obstacle and enemy fit into the layout. I also contributed to some of the enemy programming.
This was also my first time using a version control system, we worked with TortoiseSVN to manage files and collaborate. It took some getting used to, but it gave me a better understanding of how teams sync up code and assets in real-world dev.
Overall, it was a great learning experience in both teamwork and designing with intent. The end result? A weird, skeleton-filled platformer that we somehow pulled off.
